An American Library Association Best Book for Young Adults
A YALSA Quick Pick for Reluctant Young Adult Readers
Recommended by The New England Children's Booksellers Association

Description From Amazon

Thirteen-year-old Kyra has grown up in an isolated community without questioning the fact that her father has three wives and she has twenty brothers and sisters, with two more on the way. That is, without questioning them much---if you don’t count her secret visits to the Mobile Library on Wheels to read forbidden books, or her meetings with Joshua, the boy she hopes to choose for herself instead of having a man chosen for her.

But when the Prophet decrees that she must marry her sixty-year-old uncle---who already has six wives---Kyra must make a desperate choice in the face of violence and her own fears of losing her family forever.

Evernight by Claudia Gray

Description From Amazon

When she meets handsome, brooding Lucas, he warns her to be careful—even when it comes to caring about him. But the connection between them can't be denied. Bianca will risk anything to be with Lucas, but dark secrets are fated to tear them apart . . . and to make Bianca question everything she's ever believed.

I Recommend: Eighth Grade Bites (Chronicles of Vladimir Tod) by Heather Brewer

Description from www.heatherbrewer.com

~ALA 2008 Quick Pick for Reluctant Young Adult Readers~

If you thought eighth grade was tough, try it with fangs and a fear of garlic.

Junior high school really sucks for thirteen-year-old Vladimir Tod, and not in the good slurp-up-the-blood kind of way. A gang of bullies harasses him daily, the principal is dogging his every move, and the girl he really likes prefers his best friend. Oh, and Vlad has to hide the fact that he's a vampire.

When the one teacher he really connects with mysteriously vanishes, Vlad is determined to find him. But then Vlad finds an unsettling note scribbled across his essay: "I know your secret."
Vlad must locate his missing teacher, dodge the principal, resist the bullies’ tempting invitations to Bite me!, and get a date for the dance—all before he is exposed for the teen vampire he is.

Other books in the series: Ninth Grade Slays, Tenth Grade Bleeds, Eleventh Grade Burns.

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by the lovely Jill over at Breaking the Spine.

The Lost Island of Tamarind by Nadia Aguiar.

Description from Amazon

Maya Nelson isn’t your typical thirteen-year-old. She’s spent her whole life living on the sea with her marine biologist parents, her younger brother, Simon, and baby sister, Penny. Maya used to love living on a sailboat, but lately, everything feels terribly claustrophobic. Maya longs to go to school on land. To make friends. To lead a normal life. But when a violent storm hits and Maya’s parents are washed overboard, life becomes anything but normal. The children manage to steer the boat toward a mysterious island, to a place that doesn’t exist on a map.

Welcome to Tamarind, where fish can fly, pirates patrol the waters, jaguars lurk, the islanders are at war, and an evil, child-stealing enchantress rules the jungle.

Maya never imagined she’d have to face so many dangers. But then, who could have imagined a place like Tamarind. . . .?

In her stunning first novel, Nadia Aguiar presents a heart-pounding adventure tale about a haunting, fantastical island cut off from the outside world.

I love that cover! It was done by one of my favorite artist who did books like Mercy Thompson series and Alpha & Omega! Here's his website Dan Dos Santos

Illyria by Elizabeth Hand

Description from Amazon

Madeleine and Rogan are first cousins, best friends, twinned souls, each other’s first love. Even within their large, disorderly family—all descendants of a famous actress—their intensity and passion for theater sets them apart. It makes them a little dangerous. When they are cast in their school’s production of Twelfth Night, they are forced to face their separate talents and futures, and their future together. This masterful short novel, winner of the World Fantasy Award, is magic on paper.

The Grimm Legacy by Polly Shulman

Description from Amazon

Elizabeth has a new job at an unusual library— a lending library of objects, not books. In a secret room in the basement lies the Grimm Collection. That’s where the librarians lock away powerful items straight out of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales: seven-league boots, a table that produces a feast at the blink of an eye, Snow White’s stepmother’s sinister mirror that talks in riddles.

When the magical objects start to disappear, Elizabeth embarks on a dangerous quest to catch the thief before she can be accused of the crime—or captured by the thief.

Well that's all i got! See ya next time!

I Recommend:

The Shapeshifters: The Kiesha'ra of the Den of Shadows by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes.

Summary: (from Goodreads)
Five shapeshifter novels—one fascinating read!

Hawksong
Danica Shardae, an avian shapeshifter, will do anything in her power to stop the war that has raged between her people and the serpiente—even pretend to be in love with Zane Cobriana, the terrifying leader of her kind’s greatest enemy, and accept him as her pair bond. But will Zane strike as swiftly and lethally as the cobra that is his second form?

Snakecharm
A surprising union has brought peace to the avians and serpiente. Soon a child will be born to carry on their royal lines. But Syfka, an ancient falcon, is claiming that one of her people is hidden in the avian and serpiente land. Is Syfka’s lost falcon just a ruse to stir up controversy among them?

Falcondance
Nicias is a falcon, the son of two exiles from Ahnmik, and images of this distant island have always haunted his dreams. When his visions become more like reality, his parents send him back to the homeland—and a royal falcon—they’ve tried their best to forget.

Wolfcry
Oliza Shardae Cobriana is heir to Wyvern’s Court, home of the avians and serpiente, whose war with each other ended just before Oliza was born. But hatred is slow to die, and Oliza’s serpiente suitor is found beaten in avian land. How can she be expected to lead a unified society if her people still cannot live peacefully together?

Wyvernhail
Hai, daughter of a falcon mother and a deceased cobra father, is considered a mongrel by most, an ally by some, and a friend by few. When Hai’s cousin abdicates the throne of Wyvern’s Court, Hai has visions of destruction. Now she will do anything to protect her new home—even if it means betraying the very people who need her most.

My favorite memory related to the novel is before it was a quartet the first book in the series Hawksong was the first book i WILLINGLY read! And it is now one of my top favorite reads to this day.

Other Quartet's by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes:

The Den of Shadows Quartet

Why you should know Chloe Moretz

"Why you should know Chloe Moretz" From Teen Vogue Daily.

"This ridiculously talented about-to-turn-13-year-old steals the thespian thunder from on-screen dad Nicholas Cage as Hit-Girl in the Marvel-comics-based film Kick-Ass, due out on April 16th. The buzzy movie about average folks who turn themselves into superheroes is all guns, guts, and glory, and Chloe tears it up hardcore. She's also starring in this October's Let Me In, the remake of the Norweigan vampire movie Let The Right One In--easily the coolest vampire movie of the decade (sorry, Twilight Saga). Keep an eye on this most likely to succeed it girl in the making."

Oh yes! Me and my sister are so going!

Well this is my first post and I'm mainly going to be posting images/quotes/etc so here gos nothing!

I Love the artist Camilla D'Errico!
